54 Lessons From The ER

Sometimes life sends you a gentle reminder to slow down. And sometimes it sends you straight to the ER. After my body recently made it very clear that it was done negotiating with my schedule, I’ve been thinking a lot about the way we treat rest like something we have to earn. In this episode of Creative Imperfections, we’re talking about listening before your body's whispers turn to shouts, the difference between having time and having capacity, and remembering that you are one of the people you are responsible for taking care of. Because if we don’t choose to slow down sometimes, our bodies will eventually choose for us.

53 The Grocery Cart With The Bad Wheel

Ever find yourself wrestling a grocery cart that insists on veering into the canned beans no matter how hard you steer? This week on Creative Imperfections, we're talking about the infamous bad wheel and why so many of us spend way too much energy pushing things that were never meant to be this difficult. It turns out the lesson isn't always to push harder. Sometimes it's to grab a different cart. Equal parts humor, perspective, and a gentle reality check, this episode might just save you from another trip down the cereal aisle of unnecessary struggle.

When it comes to The Campfire, balance lives somewhere in the middle. You want to be close enough to feel the warmth, but far enough that you don't lose yourself in the flames.
In today's episode of Creative Imperfections, that's what we're trying to figure out. Not how to eliminate the fire. Not how to build the biggest one. Just where to put our chair.

My Inner Critic & Pessimistic Co-Pilot Had A Staff Meeting
Apparently my inner critic called a meeting... and my pessimistic co-pilot showed up early with a full presentation on everything that could go wrong. Sound familiar?
In this episode of Creative Imperfections, we're talking about the voices in our heads that love to overanalyze, catastrophize, and convince us to stay safely stuck. More importantly, we'll explore how to recognize when they're driving, how to take back the wheel, and why you don't have to believe every thought that asks for a microphone.
Because just because your inner committee is loud doesn't mean they're qualified to lead.

50 My Motivation Left Without Saying Goodbye

I'd like to officially break up with Motivation.
It's inconsistent, unreliable, and has a habit of disappearing the moment I need it most. Turns out, motivation is a terrible long-term partner.
In our 50th episode of Creative Imperfections, we're talking about why motivation should only be treated as a spark and not the fuel. Because the people who reach their goals aren't the ones who always feel motivated. They're the ones who keep showing up after motivation ghosts them.
If you've been waiting for motivation to text you back... this episode is for you. 😉

49 Stop "Should-ing" On Yourself

Jun 16, 2026
9 min
How many times a day do you tell yourself what you should be doing? In this episode of Creative Imperfections, I explore the hidden weight of "should" and how it turns our lives into a constant comparison between where we are and where we think we're supposed to be. You'll learn how to trade judgment for curiosity, pressure for progress, and stop should-ing all over yourself. If you've been feeling behind, stuck, or frustrated with your creative journey, this episode is a reminder that growth comes from showing up, exactly where you are, and taking the next right step.

"Detour Ahead"
Ever have one of those weeks where you have a plan... and then life has other ideas?
Jury duty, sick kids, unexpected detours, surprise opportunities, or simply one of those days where everything gets rearranged. In this episode of Creative Imperfections, I'm talking about what happens when life gets "lifey", why flexibility might be more valuable than control, and how to stop seeing every interruption as a setback.
Sometimes the detour isn't taking you off course. Sometimes it is part of the journey.

The voices... you know the ones... the ones that live in your head rent-free sharing their opinions on everything you do. In this week's episode of Creative Imperfections, let's dive into the committee that lives in our heads and how we can learn to live with them instead of feeling like we need to fire them all.
